Privacy Policy
Ease Down was built so that there is very little to write here. Your readings are made on your iPhone and stay on it. There is no account, and there is no server of ours behind the app.
The short version. Camera frames are read and discarded on your iPhone — nothing is recorded or uploaded. We do not run a server, we do not have an account system, and we never receive your pulse, your check-ins or anything from Apple Health. The only information that reaches a company other than Apple is an anonymous purchase record, and it contains no health data.
Who we are
Ease Down is made and published by STILL ALIVE SRL, a company registered in Romania. For anything in this policy, write to [email protected]. Where the GDPR applies, STILL ALIVE SRL is the data controller for the small amount of information described below.
What happens on your iPhone
The camera reading
During a check-in the rear camera and its torch are used to estimate your pulse. The app looks at the average colour of the centre of each frame and follows the small changes that blood flow produces as it passes the lens.
Frames are read and discarded on your iPhone — nothing is recorded. No image, video or still is written to storage, shown to anyone, or uploaded anywhere. The camera runs only while a check-in is open, and stops the moment you finish it, leave the screen, or send the app to the background.
Your check-ins
When a check-in ends, the app saves the numbers from it on your device: the date, the pulse before and after, the lowest reading, how long you breathed, which rhythm you used, whether a focus step ran, and which pulse source you used. That is all a check-in is — a handful of numbers. They live in the app's own storage on your iPhone.
Settings
Your preferences (rhythm, haptics, focus step, theme, reduce motion, the sensor you paired) are stored on the device only. They are not synced and not sent anywhere.
No account
There is no sign-up, no sign-in, no password and no profile. We do not know who you are, and we have no way of connecting a purchase to a person.
Apple Health (optional)
Apple Health is off until you turn it on, and iOS asks for your permission separately for reading and for writing. If you allow it:
- The app reads your resting heart rate from the last few days, to give a check-in some context.
- The app writes mindful minutes for the time you spent breathing, and two heart rate samples — the reading before and the reading after.
All of this happens between the app and Apple Health on your device. We never receive your Apple Health data, it is never used for advertising, and it is never shared with anyone. It is not copied into iCloud by us and it does not reach STILL ALIVE SRL. You can withdraw either permission at any time in the Health app, under Sharing › Apps; the app keeps working without it.
iCloud sync
If iCloud is on for your device, the numbers from your check-ins sync through your own private iCloud database, so your history follows you to another iPhone. This uses Apple's CloudKit in your personal iCloud account: the data is yours, it sits in your account, and STILL ALIVE SRL has no access to it and no way to read it.
Only check-in numbers sync. Nothing from Apple Health is put into iCloud by the app, and your settings stay local. Turning off iCloud for Ease Down in iOS Settings stops the sync.
Bluetooth sensors
Bluetooth is used for one thing: reading heart rate from a sensor that you choose and pair — a chest strap or a watch broadcasting on the standard Heart Rate Profile. The app looks for heart-rate sensors only while you are pairing or taking a reading, and it remembers the one you picked so it can reconnect. Nothing is transmitted to the sensor, and nothing about it leaves your phone.
Purchases
The one-time purchase that unlocks the app is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, your email address or your payment details — Apple does not give them to us.
To keep track of what has been unlocked and to make "Restore purchases" work on a new device, we use RevenueCat, Inc. as a processor. RevenueCat receives:
- an anonymous app user ID that the SDK generates on the device — it is not linked to you;
- your purchase and restore history for this app, as reported by Apple;
- the app version, the iOS version and the device model;
- a country, derived from the IP address of the request.
No health data, no pulse, no check-in and no reading of any kind is sent to RevenueCat or to anyone else. On the App Store privacy label this appears as “Purchases” and “Identifiers”, both marked as not linked to you and not used for tracking.
RevenueCat is based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA, the transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses under our data processing agreement with them.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, receive or store your pulse, your check-ins or your Apple Health data.
- We run no analytics on your readings — none at all, anonymous or otherwise.
- We do not use advertising, ad networks, ad identifiers or cross-app tracking.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data. There is nothing to sell.
- We do not build profiles and we take no automated decisions about you.
- We do not ask for your location, your contacts, your photos or your microphone.
This website
easedown.app is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, loads no fonts or scripts from other companies, and carries no analytics or tracking of any kind.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which — like any web host — processes the IP address and request details of visitors briefly in order to serve pages and to protect the site from abuse. We do not use those logs to identify or follow anyone.
Legal bases (EU/UK)
Most of what the app does never becomes personal data in our hands, because it stays on your device. Where the GDPR does apply, these are the bases we rely on:
- Delivering the purchase, and restoring it later
- Performance of a contract with you — Article 6(1)(b). This covers the anonymous purchase record held by RevenueCat on our behalf.
- Keeping the app and the website working and secure
- Our legitimate interests in providing a working, non-abused service — Article 6(1)(f). This covers crash-free operation and the host's short-lived server logs.
- Apple Health access
- Your explicit consent, given in the iOS permission sheet — Article 9(2)(a). Health data is handled on your device by Apple's frameworks and never reaches us. You can withdraw it at any time in the Health app.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to ask for access to your personal data, and for its correction, erasure, restriction or portability; to object to processing based on legitimate interests; and to withdraw consent you have given, at any time.
In practice there is very little we hold: no account, no name, no email address, no readings. The one record that exists is the anonymous purchase entry described above. Write to us if you want it removed and we will help you identify it — note that deleting it also removes the ability to restore that purchase on a new device.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Romania that is the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP); if you live elsewhere in the EEA, it is the authority for your country.
Keeping and deleting your data
- One check-in: swipe it away in History. It is removed from the device and, if iCloud is on, from your iCloud database.
- Everything on the device: delete the app. Its storage, its settings and its widget data go with it.
- The iCloud copy: iOS Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, where Ease Down's data can be removed from your account.
- Apple Health: anything the app wrote can be deleted in the Health app, which keeps its own record of what came from where.
- The purchase record: kept by RevenueCat while the app is available, so that restores keep working. Apple keeps its own record of the transaction under Apple's terms.
Children
Ease Down is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. The app is rated for a general audience and has no social features, no messaging and no user-generated content.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update the page and move the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
